Description and operation
General
A team is a shared owner of workspaces and environments. It has a handle, a name, a description and one region. You manage a team in the console, on the page Team settings, which shows the controls that your role can use.
The handle is the name of the team in every address. It has 3 to 39 characters: lowercase letters, digits and -, not at the start or end. No other team or account can use it. The handle and the region do not change. To move a team to another region, see Regions.
The tasks name the console. Every task has an API route. The SDKs have no method for teams: call the route in References with the SDK method request. The role rules are the same.
Roles
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
member | Use everything the team owns. Change the name and the description. Leave the team. |
admin | Everything a member can do. Invite members and admins. Set the role member or admin. Pause and remove members and admins. Change the public profile. |
owner | Everything an admin can do. Invite owners and set the role owner. Change, pause and remove owners. Delete the team. |
A team keeps at least one owner. The last owner cannot leave and cannot be removed.
Members
A member is active or paused. A paused member keeps the role and the row in the list, and the platform refuses the member on every route of the team. A pause or a removal takes effect in about 5 minutes. Access to git and to the registry follows within one minute.
An admin or an owner invites by email address. The invitation holds the address and the role, and is valid for 7 days. The platform sends the link by email, or the console shows it if the email cannot go out. Only the invited address can accept, after signing in to the console once. An open invitation can be withdrawn.
When an admin removes a member, the platform waits 7 days. Then it deletes the member's sessions with their chat transcripts, and workspaces in this team. Snapshots and environments stay. If the member joins again within 7 days, nothing is deleted. The page Team settings lists a waiting removal, and an admin can delete at once: Delete the resources of a removed member now. A region can switch the deletion off.
Limits
| Item | Limit |
|---|---|
| Handle | 3 to 39 characters |
| Invitation | 7 days |
| Removal period | 7 days |
| Delay of a pause or a removal | About 5 minutes |
